Two new preliminary applications have been filed to construct housing on the former Fry’s Electronics box store site at 550 East Brokaw Road in North San Jose, Santa Clara County. The applications show a shift in focus from the developers, who, as early as January this year, went to the Planning Commission to review their plan for nearly two million square feet of office space.
A New York City-based private equity firm has purchased the 13.3-acre property at 3905 Freedom Circle in Santa Clara. Greystar, the former owner, has secured approval for a 1,075-unit residential development across the property. Cerberus Capital Management, the new owner, is a multibillion-dollar investment firm chaired by a former US Vice President.
The Builder’s Remedy has been applied again to construct more suburban development in Santa Clara County, this time at 6591 Woodcliff Court, San Jose. The application is the second directly linked to Michael LaBarbera of Terracommercial Real Estate and is similar to a 320-unit application for 1515 Half Road in Morgan Hill. The three plans will reshape several acres along the county’s urban edges with more single-family housing.
A new residential project has been proposed for development at 409 South Second Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project proposal includes the construction of a new 30-story high-rise apartment tower. Canadian developer Westbank has partnered with the local real estate firm Urban Community as the project developers. James K.M. Cheng Architects is responsible for the design, with Steinberg Hart operating as the architect of record
