The initial environmental study is finished for the townhouse development at 3378-3386 El Camino Real in Santa Clara, Santa Clara County. The city has published a notice for the public comment period of the study lasting until August 2nd. Palo Alto-based VeGuard USA is the project client.
The four-structure complex will yield around 41,860 square feet for housing and 15,920 square feet for parking. Each residence will have a two-car garage and one bicycle. Apartment sizes will vary, with five two-bedrooms and 19 three-bedrooms. Three apartments will be designated as affordable to moderate-income households. BKF is consulting on civil engineering.
Dahlin Group is the project architect. Illustrations show the design is a historicized Spanish architectural pastiche, with facade materials including stucco, cementitious panels, wooden railings, and S tile roofs. VanderToolen Associates is the landscape architect. The site will have trees lining the sidewalks, with a paseo intersecting the site from El Camino Real.
The 0.88-acre parcel is located along El Camino Real near Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway. Next door to the site, construction is already underway for the 2.27-acre redevelopment of 3402 El Camino Real by De Anza Properties with a large retail space and 66 homes. The Lawrence Station Caltrain station is 13 minutes away by bicycle or half an hour on foot. Demolition will be required for the existing single-story commercial structure.

Another apartment complex on a busy and loud 6 lane thoroughfare. Hmm
And where would you place the development?
