Landsea Homes has announced the opening of Alameda Marina, a new townhome development along the Alameda waterfront facing Oakland. The project is part of a master plan that has reshaped the 43-acre area of former low-slung buildings and surface parking with townhomes, an apartment complex, and new public open space. Landsea has launched sales, with units starting under a million dollars.
In the press release announcing the opening, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Landsea’s Northern California Division, Marc Rico, shared that “it was an exciting milestone to celebrate the grand opening of this long-awaited community of High Performance townhomes. Each home is uniquely designed with a modern aesthetic that allows residents to make each home their own and ‘live in their element.”
Of the 182 townhomes, Landsea has split the site into two neighborhoods, Island View and Waterside. The 98 townhomes in Island View will offer seven different floor plans with an outdoor porch and deck. Sizes will vary from 1,460 to 2,390 square feet, and prices in this neighborhood start in the high $900,000 range.
Waterside offers four larger floor plans for its 84 units, with prices starting at nearly $1.5 million. Each townhome here will include three to four bedrooms, a private rooftop deck, and waterfront views.
KTGY is the project architect. The designs for each townhouse will be familiar to the region, utilizing an established contemporary style influenced by local design guidelines. Facade materials will vary between stucco, siding, and fiber cement panels.

This is a nice addition to Alameda. 85% are market rate which will hopefully fill up quickly leaving more older housing for affordable as people move to the market rate housing.
The song ‘Little Boxes’ came immediately to mind when I saw the images of the building exteriors. The lyrics were written by Malvina Reynolds and the song was made famous by her friend Pete Seeger in 1963. The lyrics were inspired by the cheesy little tract homes built in Daly City,CA in the area bounded by Lake Merced on the north, what is now I 380 on the south, what is now I 280 on the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
Well if a boomer find the aesthetic objectionable then we should tear it all down and start over. We can’t all benefit from nepotism like Pete Seeger did.
Also don’t you have a dog whistle to blow at a planning meeting?
I can see that in Daily City, the Sunset is sort of like that too. My friend from China said they are making houses like Legos over there, where you can reconfigure them easily, add, subtract, and move around. I think that is sort of interesting, but it is hard to really for me to comprehend it. Little boxes (Legos). My Brother lived in Japan had he said the walls were literally paper thin where he lived and the places were small. Maybe we are spoiled here?
I toured the models last weekend and the rooftop deck is truly the cherry on top. Very beautiful homes.
Question:
Are these townhouses are for rent?
