New plans are under review for a seven-story residential infill at 888 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The project will replace the Jeffrey’s Hamburgers restaurant a block from the city’s Caltrain station. San Francisco-based Worldco Company is responsible for the application through 888 El Camino LLC.
LDP Architecture is responsible for the design. Illustrations show a collage-style facade with a patchy mix of cement plaster, wood-look fiber cement panels, and private balconies. The 75-foot tall structure will yield around 59,800 square feet, with 41 apartments and a 40-car garage. Residents will get access to 5,250 square feet of open space beside 1,525 square feet of common open space.
The plans are utilizing a 50% density bonus to increase residential capacity with zoning waivers to increase height and floor size. Of the 41 for-sale condominiums, five will be designated as affordable to very low-income households. Preliminary applications were filed for 888 El Camino Real in April this year through Senate Bill 330, with formal development applications filed before last month.
Worldco Company LLC is a San Francisco-based private real estate investment firm. Worldco’s portfolio includes several properties across San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and one in Washington State. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
