Deep Dive Into Caltrain’s San Francisco Railyards Redevelopment

Preliminary plans have been submitted for the potential redevelopment of the Caltrain San Francisco Railyards at 4th and King Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The trove of documents filed earlier this week shows a few variants for transforming the 18.6-acre property into a high-density extension of the city’s urban environment, with the tallest tower potentially reaching 850 feet. The plan is a joint venture with Prologis and Caltrain.

Meeting Tomorrow For Diridon Station Plaza Towers, San Jose

The San Jose Planning Director is scheduled to review plans for the two 16-story commercial towers to rise at 33-91 South Montgomery Street in front of the historic Diridon Station. The project aims to create 1.2 million square feet of office space above a mixed-use public plaza activated with retail, entertainment, and landscaping. Caltrain is the property owner and applicant.

Meeting Tomorrow for Diridon Station Redevelopment, San Jose

New project details have been revealed ahead of tomorrow’s meeting about expanding the Diridon Station in San Jose. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s Diridon Joint Policy Advisory Board will review three design options to accommodate increased Caltrain services, integrate High-Speed Rail, and connect to the future BART extension. As expected for an infrastructure project in the Bay Area, the costs are astronomical, ranging from $2.5 billion to $13 billion.

CEQA Approval For San Francisco Transbay Downtown Rail Extension

The California Transportation Commission has approved the CEQA environmental review of the 2.2-mile extension of The Portal, San Francisco’s Downtown Rail Extension. The Portal will connect the city’s existing 4th Street Train Station to the Salesforce Transit Center. Once complete, the connection will accommodate Caltrain and future high-speed rail.

Gateway at Millbrae Officially Opens in San Mateo County

The Gateway at Millbrae Station mixed-use development is officially open in Millbrae, San Mateo County. The project has brought affordable housing, market-rate housing, offices, a hotel, and new retail directly across from the county’s largest transit hub, serviced by BART, Caltrain, SamTrans, and eventually, the High-Speed Rail. Republic Urban Properties is the project sponsor.

New renderings have been revealed for the two mixed-use towers and future office for Caltrain. The project will rise on the surface parking adjacent to San Jose’s Diridon Station. The public plaza and retail at the base would become a welcoming gateway for the future Google-led Downtown West masterplan. Perkins&Will is the project architect.

New plans have been revealed for a 17-story commercial tower at 121 East Grand Avenue in South San Francisco, San Mateo County. The SOM-designed project would rise above the city’s new Caltrain Station, expanding the East Side high-rise profile further south. San Diego-based Phase 3 Real Estate Partners is the project developer, operating through OCI San Fran, LLC.

The project is a transit-oriented mixed-use project that includes market-rate and affordable housing, a Marriott hotel, retail, and office space next to the Millbrae BART and Caltrain Station. Republic Family of Companies is responsible for the projected $401 million development.

Public Transit September Promotions Offered Across Bay Area
