Preliminary permits have been filed with new plans for a low-slung commercial lot at 1655 South De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, Santa Clara County. The application is now looking to create 35 townhome-style units, representing a slight increase from previously approved plans. Gilroy-based Truth in Love LLC is listed as the property owner.

While detailed illustrations have yet to be shared, the preliminary application does describe that construction would create five buildings, each containing seven townhome-style units. Full build-out would produce 35 dwelling units, a slight increase from the previously-approved plans for 34 units. The development would create three structures, including 23 apartments and 11 townhomes, designed by Dahlin Group.

The 1.67-acre property is located along South De Anza Boulevard and Prospect Road. Future residents would be close to several restaurants, and seven minutes away from the popular H Mart grocery store by bus.

The pre-application invokes Senate Bill 330 to streamline the approval process. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.

  1. Don’t see the point in a 2-over-1 (two floors of residential over one floor of retail) on a corner of two major-ish thoroughfares. Go slightly bigger. Developer, make more money. City, make more tax revenue. Should be 4-6 stories tall, if not upwards of 10.

  2. An L-shaped plot while the low-slung garbage in the concave portion of the L remains. That is the whole problem right there. The entire rectangle should be demolished and built to 4+ storys.
