NVIDIA filed permits for an expansion to its Santa Clara headquarters, and an affordable housing project in San Jose broke ground.
Formal Application For Billionaire’s Mansion at 3456 Washington Street, San Francisco

September 1st: Formal permits have been filed for a three-story mansion to rise at 3456 Washington Street in Presidio Heights, San Francisco. The project would replace a 67-year-old home with a bespoke residence and an accessory dwelling unit for the Gap Inc. co-founder and local billionaire, Doris F. Fisher. San Francisco-based Obata Noblin Office is responsible for the design.
Affordable Housing & Potential Grocer Pitched For 2700 Sloat Boulevard, Sunset District, San Francisco

September 2nd: Plans are pivoting once again for 2700 Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. The latest filing could create nearly seven hundred units of affordable housing, along with a potential ground-floor grocery store and public parking, across from the city’s zoo and close to Ocean Beach. Raelynn Hickey of Nevada-based CH Planning LLC is once more responsible for the application.
Plans Revealed For Housing On Top Of Amoeba Music in Southside, Berkeley

September 3rd: Plans have been published for a potential new housing project on top of the Amoeba Music record store at 2455 Telegraph Avenue in Southside, Berkeley. The proposal would add seven floors of housing above the existing store, retaining the site’s nearly 50-year-old landmarked murals. Amoeba co-owners Dave Prinz and Marc Weinstein are jointly responsible for the development.
Construction Starts For The Chester at Westlake in Daly City, San Mateo County

September 5th: Construction has officially started on the first new mixed-use apartment community to rise in Daly City in fifteen years. Chester at Westlake will become a seven-story residential complex with over two hundred homes at 99 Southgate Avenue, overlooking the popular Westlake Shopping Center. Kimco Realty and Bozzuto have partnered together as joint developers.
Demolition Permits for 2128 Oxford Street in Downtown Berkeley

September 8th: Demolition permits have been filed for the existing buildings at 2128 Oxford Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The application is related to plans for what could become the tallest building in the city if finished today, a 285-foot-tall apartment complex with 456 apartments above ground-level retail space. Chicago-based Core Spaces is responsible for the application, with planning and CEQA consultation from the Rhoades Planning Group.

September 10th: The Shirley Chisholm Village in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, celebrating the completion of a first-of-its-kind project for San Francisco. The 100% affordable units are designated as a community for educators working in San Francisco, with the goal of making housing more accessible within the city limits.
Preliminary Permits For 20-Story Tower at 1023 Mission Street, San Francisco

September 10th: Preliminary permits have been filed for a fully-affordable 20-story tower at 1023 Mission Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The development is looking to create over two hundred rental units above retail close to Market Street. Align Real Estate is the project developer.
Revised Plans For Senior Housing Tower at 910 Marshall Street, Redwood City

September 11th: Revised plans have been filed for a shorter 21-story senior housing tower at 910 Marshall Street and 1800 Broadway in the heart of Redwood City, San Mateo County. The development is still poised to redefine the county seat’s skyline, though sizably reduced from the previous 345-foot-tall iteration withdrawn earlier this year. R&M Properties is the project developer.
Plans Shift For Flower Market Site Redevelopment in SoMa, San Francisco

September 16th: Updated plans have been filed for the redevelopment of the former Flower Market site at 610 Brannan Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The application considers four potential scenarios, ranging from offices to housing a few blocks away from the San Francisco Caltrain Station. The Los Angeles-based Kilroy Realty is the project developer.
Construction Starts For 525 North Capitol Avenue, San Jose

September 22nd: Construction has started for The Fielden, a five-story affordable housing development at 525 North Capitol Avenue in East San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project is adding 160 units for low-income families, veterans, and formerly homeless neighbors. Community Development Partners is the developer.
State Funds Secured For Affordable Workforce Housing in San Quentin, Marin County

September 23rd: State funding has been secured to push forward the Oak Hill Workforce Housing project in the unincorporated San Quentin community in Marin County. State Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire announced that the new state budget will allocate $7.5 million towards the 135-unit project, allowing the project to progress. Education Housing Partners is the project developer.
Meeting Tomorrow For 222 Capp Street in Mission District, San Francisco

September 24th: The San Francisco Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tomorrow for an eight-story apartment complex at 222 Capp Street in San Francisco’s Mission District. The proposal aims to replace a surface parking lot with 70 rental apartments, located less than two blocks away from the 16th Street BART Station. 2101 MS Property Holdings LLC, linked with Deutsche Bank, is listed as the property owner and applicant.
Reduced Plans Filed For Glide Foundation Expansion, San Francisco

September 25th: Reduced plans have been filed for an expansion to the Glide Foundation community facilities at 334 Ellis Street in the Tenderloin, San Francisco. The project is now set to replace a surface parking lot with a seven-story social services building next to another Foundation-owned building at 330 Ellis Street and the Glide Memorial Church Building. Glide Foundation is the property owner and applicant.
Renderings Revealed for NVIDIA Expansion at 2400 Condensa Street, Santa Clara

September 26th: Building permits have been filed for the expansion of NVIDIA’s headquarters at 2400 Condensa Street in Santa Clara. The application comes as new renderings have been published for what would become the third building, to be named NVIDIA Starbase, designed by Gensler for the world’s highest-valued company. Devcon Construction is listed as the project applicant.
State Funding Secured for 772 Pacific Avenue in Chinatown, San Francisco

September 30th: State financing has been secured to support the 15-story affordable housing proposal at 772 Pacific Avenue in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The development has been awarded $33.5 million from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, allowing the team to continue working towards breaking ground as early as 2027. The Chinatown Community Development Center is responsible for the project.
