Three Of Four Towers Near Topping Out in Phase One of Mission Rock in Mission Bay, San Francisco

Construction has topped out for Buildings B and G in Mission Rock, with Building A near the same milestone, and groundbreaking imminent for Building F. As phase one of the project speeds towards completion, more is expected from one of the most prominent projects to complete San Francisco’s decades-long plan to replace surface parking in Mission Bay with a vibrant transit-oriented neighborhood. Mission Rock is being led by Mission Rock Partner, a joint venture with Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants.

Number Two: Oceanwide Center at 50 First Street, SoMa, San Francisco

In January of 2021, the Oceanwide Center in San Francisco was expected to become the second tallest tower in the Bay Area. Construction was put on hold in October of 2020, and subsequent issues throughout 2021 have imperiled Oceanwide’s plans. However, foundation work is complete, and there remains hope that a new developer could pick up and finish the highly anticipated 910-foot tower designed by Foster + Partners.

Number 8: Millennium Tower in SoMa, San Francisco

The eighth tallest skyscraper in the Bay Area planned or built is the Millennium Tower, a 645-foot tall residential building at 301 Mission Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Developed by Millennium Partners, the project was built between 2005 and 2009 opened as the tallest residential tower west of Chicago. Since 2016, the building has garnered international news for both tilting and sinking.

Number 11: The Avery at 450 Folsom Street, SoMa, San Francisco

The eleventh tallest skyscraper in the Bay Area planned or built is Related Companies The Avery, a 618-foot tall residential tower at 450 Folsom Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The project is located on Block 8 of the Transbay development district and inside the highly redeveloped East Cut neighborhood. Rem Koolhaas’ Office of Metropolitan Architecture is responsible for the tapered design.
