The Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity has announced plans to transform the former Birkenstock campus in Novato into a museum for art and design. The Marin County campus spans 88.5 acres of public open space and an extremely distinctive saw-tooth roofline factory warehouse in view of Highway 101. International architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron is responsible for the design.
Construction has started for the $4.3 billion UCSF Parnassus Heights Hospital expansion in San Francisco. The official groundbreaking ceremony was held over a month ago, and foundation work is now underway. Once complete, the 15-story medical center will offer hundreds of new patient beds and care units.
New renderings have been revealed for a seven-story commercial complex to rise at Potrero Power Station Block 2 along San Francisco’s waterfront. The project would combine lab space and new institutional healthcare space in a building designed by the internationally renowned architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. Demolition and excavation work is underway for two major projects in the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. Crews finished removing the seven-story UC Hall, and only a corner of the four-story Mental Health Services building remains as of our visit. The sites are expected to be transformed into a research building and hospital, with both scheduled to finish by 2028 and 2030, respectively.
A recent site visit has shown notable progress on demolition and excavation for the 2,600-home Potrero Power Station development nine months after groundbreaking. Crews have removed several structures while retaining the historic Station A and 300-foot smokestack, both brick structures will serve as focal points in the 29-acre waterfront development in Dogpatch, San Francisco.
