The University of California Board of Regents has approved plans and a $4.3 billion budget to build 1.5 million square feet for the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. The master plan expands the medical complex’s constrained capacity with design by Herzog & de Meuron. According to UCSF, construction is expected to start next year.
Recently adjusted plans have been filed for the massive office proposal at 725 Harrison Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The base proposal was already approved in 2019, and the new modifications slightly expand the office and industrial components. Boston Properties is responsible for the application.
Demolition permits have been filed for the existing single-story commercial structure at 1567 California Street in Polk Gulch, San Francisco. The property is expected to be replaced by a nine-story mixed-use infill with housing and new retail space along the street. David Baker Architects will design the new building.
Development permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new residential project proposed at 424 Texas Street in Potrero Hill, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of a new single-family home with a one-bedroom accessory dwelling unit (ADU). Plans call for the demolition of the existing single-family home on the site. BACH Architecture is responsible for the design concepts.
After years of lawsuits, a failed bid for historic preservation, and stalled efforts, San Francisco’s ‘historic’ laundromat has been demolished. The former single-story building at 2918 Mission Street in the Mission District is now poised to be replaced by new housing. The city has already approved permits for an eight-story mixed-use infill.
