Hines has reportedly halted plans for the 39-story office tower at 415 20th Street in Downtown Oakland, Alameda County. The proposal would have become the tallest structure in the Bay Area outside of San Francisco, but the struggling real estate market has pushed the prominent developer away. Now, the site is being offered as a future home for a new BART Police Headquarters.
The Redwood City City Council has unanimously voted to start the environmental review process for Redwood LIFE: Evolve, the redevelopment of an 84-acre mixed-use site in Redwood City, San Mateo County. The decision is a step forward to create a life sciences campus alongside a hotel, amenity center, and 47 acres of green space and trails. Longfellow Real Estate Partners is responsible for the project.
New plans have been submitted for a four-structure mixed-use development with a 300-foot tower at 80 Willow Road in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. If built, the project would become the second tallest structure in San Mateo County by using the Builder’s Remedy, possibly creating hundreds of homes, hotel rooms, office space, and retail. Oisin Heneghan, the founder of N17 Development, is listed as the project applicant. Embarcadero Capital Partners is the property owner.
The Oakland Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on a second extension request for approved entitlements to a six-story hotel at Parcel F3 along the Jack London Square waterfront. The project was first approved in March of 2018, and the entitlement received an extension in 2019 that was increased during the pandemic following the city’s Emergency Order Number 6. CIM Group is the project developer.
Construction is wrapping up with facade installation nearly complete for Google Caribbean, the waterfront five-story buildings along West Caribbean Drive in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County. The zigzagging offices will bring a combined one million square feet of new office space for Google next year. The update comes as Google’s parent company, Alphabet, postponed construction of Downtown West in San Jose in April and put 1.4 million square feet of offices up for sublease last month. Bjarke Ingels Group is the project architect.
