In honor of New York YIMBY’s Turkey Week tradition of spotlighting stalled projects, we’d like to highlight the one big project that comes to mind for San Francisco. Oceanwide Center was meant to produce the second-tallest skyscraper in the city, with a unique geometric structure designed by Foster + Partners. Today, the property at First and Mission remains an unfinished hole in the ground, collecting dust and water.
Pre-application permits have been filed for a new life science development at 600 Bancroft Way in Southwest Berkeley, Alameda County. The waterfront property was sold to Invesco Real Estate in 2021 for $39.4 million. Burlingame-based Woodstock Development is the project applicant.
A brand-new residential community has just opened its doors, offering homes for sale in Castro Valley. The project proposal included the development of a residential community offering 25 single-family estate homes. Trumark Homes is the project developer.
The Julia Morgan-designed YWCA Building at 1515 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland recently changed ownership for $22.5 million. The 109-year-old Renaissance revival building is now owned by a current tenant and public charter school, with plans to bring teach housing to the top two floors. Oakland-based Highbridge Equity Partners had previously owned the property.
Preliminary permits have been filed for a new residential master plan at 2100-2400 Geng Road in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The sprawling project will bring over a hundred apartments and more parking to an office campus next to other offices, San Francisquito Creek, and near the waterfront Baylands Nature Preserve. San Francisco-based Strada Investment Group is responsible for the application.
