Berkeley’s Landmark Preservation Commission has voted to protect the United Artists Theater’s facade at 2274 Shattuck Avenue but not the rest of the structure. The decision will be reviewed by the City Council in a public meeting next Tuesday. After that, the developer, Panoramic Interests, is expected to have a clear pathway to start construction for the 227-unit tower once funding is secured.
Zoning and Design Review permits have been filed for the four-story mixed-use infill at 2614 Telegraph Avenue in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The proposal will bring 19 co-living units and retail just two blocks from People’s Park. Gunkel Architecture is responsible for the design.
Permits have been filed for the residential development at 2660 and 2680 Bancroft Way in Southside, Berkeley. The updated plans will construct an eight-story apartment infill at 2660 Bancroft Way but have forgone additional housing to pursue an office conversion of the former Bancroft Hotel. Daryl Ross is the property owner, filing through AMI LLC.
Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new residential project proposed for development at 2201-2205 Blake Street in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new three-story residential building. The project will be an addition to an existing duplex on the site. Studio KDA is the architect responsible for the designs.
SF BART recently submitted a preliminary application for the North Berkeley BART Station redevelopment along Sacramento Street in Berkeley. The local transit agency will use Assembly Bill 2011 to streamline approval with a CEQA-exempt and time-limited process. Once complete, the project will replace surface parking around the transit station with 739 new homes.
