For the last twelve days of the year, SF YIMBY will look back on each month to reflect on the biggest stories we covered. In February, SHVO revealed plans to renovate 545 Sansome Street as part of their Transamerica Pyramid masterplan, 2190 Shattuck Avenue kickstarted the race to be the tallest tower in Berkeley, and new renderings were revealed for the SOM-designed Buddhist Temple in Nob Hill.
New plans shared with YIMBY reveal that 1998 Shattuck Avenue has again become the tallest proposed tower for Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The 28-story project is now two floors higher, 40 feet taller, covers two additional parcels, and, most significantly, residential capacity has doubled to 599 apartments. NX Ventures is the project developer.
Representatives for 3700 California Street have filed a request to extend the approved entitlement for a 31-building residential redevelopment of the Sutter Health-owned medical campus in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights. The move comes after TMG and Sutter Health backed out of the redevelopment plans in May of this year. The campus was listed for sale by CBRE.
The City of Emeryville’s Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tonight for the Bay Center Life Sciences expansion at 6425-6475 Christie Avenue, Alameda County. The development will expand the three-structure campus with a new mixed-function building and a new 596-car garage. Harvest Properties is the property owner.
SHVO, the new owner of the Transamerica Pyramid and two adjacent buildings, has started renovations of San Francisco’s iconic property with an official ceremony. Though not a traditional groundbreaking event, dirt was shoveled by many important local representatives next to Michael Shvo. Plans for renovating the 50-year-old landmark are designed by Foster + Partners.
