Bayhill Ventures debuted last November with eye-catching plans for a new residential skyscraper in San Francisco during a period where most significant projects are on hold across the region. Last month, Bayhill’s founder and CEO, Paul Paradis, sat down with YIMBY to discuss the ambitious plans for 530 Howard Street, his reason for starting a new firm, and his optimism for San Francisco’s next top-end office tower.
The preliminary application has been filed for an eight-story apartment complex at 585 17th Street in Downtown Oakland. The plans will create nearly a hundred homes at the corner of 17th and Jefferson Street, two blocks away from Oakland City Hall. San Francisco-based DM Development is the developer.
A preliminary application has been submitted seeking the approval of a residential project proposed at 2018 Blake Street in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new six-story infill structure offering 12 new housing units. Tripalink is the project developer. DNM Architecture is responsible for the design, taking over plans from the San Francisco-based Fifth Arch. RW Stover and Associates is responsible for the landscape architecture.
Plans are moving forward to build hundreds of affordable homes inside a new bus yard in San Francisco’s Mission District. This Thursday, the city’s Planning Commission is scheduled to review the Final Environmental Impact Report about the SFMTA Potrero Yards Modernization proposal. The project will replace the existing bus yard and build up to 513 units, with a refined project variant floated to build just 103 units. SFMTA and Plenary Group are joint developers.
Demolition and excavation work is underway for two major projects in the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. Crews finished removing the seven-story UC Hall, and only a corner of the four-story Mental Health Services building remains as of our visit. The sites are expected to be transformed into a research building and hospital, with both scheduled to finish by 2028 and 2030, respectively.
