In honor of New York YIMBY’s Turkey Week tradition of spotlighting stalled projects, we’d like to highlight the one big project that comes to mind for San Francisco. Oceanwide Center was meant to produce the second-tallest skyscraper in the city, with a unique geometric structure designed by Foster + Partners. Today, the property at First and Mission remains an unfinished hole in the ground, collecting dust and water.
New plans are under review for a seven-story residential infill at 888 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The project will replace the Jeffrey’s Hamburgers restaurant a block from the city’s Caltrain station. San Francisco-based Worldco Company is responsible for the application through 888 El Camino LLC.
The San Francisco Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans this Thursday for the 15-story affordable housing tower at 772 Pacific Avenue in Chinatown, San Francisco. The commission will vote on an ordinance sponsored by Supervisor Peskin to establish a Special Use District for the new housing. Chinatown Community Development Center is responsible for the application.
The zoning worksheet has been filed for an affordable housing complex at 606 Clara Street in Brookfield Village, East Oakland. The project will use $14.3 million in Homekey funds from the State to pursue the construction of 40 affordable homes dedicated to seniors experiencing homelessness. San Francisco-based DignityMoves is the project sponsor.
Preliminary permits have been filed for a new residential master plan at 2100-2400 Geng Road in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The sprawling project will bring over a hundred apartments and more parking to an office campus next to other offices, San Francisquito Creek, and near the waterfront Baylands Nature Preserve. San Francisco-based Strada Investment Group is responsible for the application.
