Entitlement permits have been filed for the Radium Theater at 2151 Ferry Point in Alameda, Alameda County. The project will reshape a two-acre parcel with a new performing arts center. The development will rise next to the Alameda Point master plan, with hundreds of homes, retail, and public open spaces proposed, many of which are already under construction or finished.
Construction is moving ahead for a new music venue named Channel 24 at 1800 24th Street in Midtown Sacramento’s Poverty Ridge neighborhood. The future venue operator, Another Planet Entertainment, recently highlighted the progress of the 2,150-person venue that bridges the gap between smaller venues and stadiums. SKK Development is responsible for the project.
California’s High-Speed Rail Authority has revealed detailed plans for four stations along the Central Valley segment. While High-Speed Rail remains a distant prospect for the Bay Area, construction on the 171-mile portion winding through the San Joaquin Valley shows steady progress. Previous statements by the Governor suggest that work connecting the Bay Area with the central line will not start until after the Central Valley tracks begin operating in the 2030s.
SF BART recently submitted a preliminary application for the North Berkeley BART Station redevelopment along Sacramento Street in Berkeley. The local transit agency will use Assembly Bill 2011 to streamline approval with a CEQA-exempt and time-limited process. Once complete, the project will replace surface parking around the transit station with 739 new homes.
UC Berkeley has published the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Innovation Zone, a two-structure laboratory along the western edge of the university’s campus. New details shared in the document reveal that the proposed North Building is the latest to become the tallest building in Berkeley, and construction could start as early as this summer. Details about the tower design and financing have not been published.
