The City of Milpitas is encouraging the public to comment on a new draft plan to rezone portions of the city, the Milpitas Metro Specific Plan. MMSP would establish five new districts around the city’s BART Station, which opened in June of 2020. Full build-out could produce roughly seven thousand apartments, two and a half million square feet of office space, light industrial space, retail, and hotels to be built by 2040.
A joint community and environmental public scoping meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow to review the plans for the Icon-Echo Towers, a mixed-use proposal for Downtown San Jose. The development, by Urban Catalyst, is expected to create two towers connected by a four-story podium, adding over half a million square feet of commercial space and over four hundred new apartments.
New renderings have been revealed along with the publication of new documents for the Alviso Hotel at 4701 North First Street. The project would build over two hundred new guest rooms in the waterside Alviso neighborhood in North San Jose as part of a larger commercial development by TNT Land Development Services. Terra Hospitality is leading the hotel project.
New permits have been filed as developers plan groundbreaking next year for the 24-story mixed-use tower proposed for 27 South 1st Street in Downtown San Jose. Alterra Worldwide, the project developer, has stated they will use blockchain to raise funds. If built, Tower 27 will add 374 apartments, parking, and retail to the city’s urban core.
Construction crews have quickly installed the curtainwall glass covering Adobe’s new office tower at 333 West San Fernando Street in Downtown San Jose. Dubbed Adobe North Tower, the project is the fourth skyscraper for the Adobe Global Headquarters. The software company has been operating from San Jose since 1996, with the construction of Adobe Tower West and the subsequent completion of Adobe Tower East in 1998 and Adobe Almaden Tower in 2003.
