New Renderings for SJSU’s Spartan Heights at 100 North 4th Street, Downtown San Jose

Spartan heights, the proposed twenty-three story dormitory tower at 117 North 5th Street in Downtown San Jose is making its way through the city government. This month, the city moved to rezone the lot from CG commercial general zoning to the downtown primary commercial zoning district. The dormitory tower is slated to be built one block from MIRO, the city’s current tallest structure. The developers, Republic Urban, are hoping to capture housing demand from San Jose State University.

Biggest Little Permits of the Day: 56 Single Family Homes in Sacramento, ADU’s around the Bay Area

For today, we have something new. We work to share with you all of the most exciting and consequential development updates across the Bay Area during the week. However, there are many permits and other stories that fall through the cracks. They tend not to be significant enough or do not come with enough details to merit a full article. We, of course, do not take your attention for granted. However, in sum, all these permits add up to a significant contribution to the built environment of the Bay Area, and we would hate to miss them. So from now on, our Saturday special will be the biggest of the little permits for the week. Today’s post will share with you the best of Friday, September 25th. Fridays are notoriously slow days for permit filings. Yet, we still found some large plans filed in Sacramento, a cannabis warehouse expansion, and eight applications for additional dwelling units, i.e., ADU, across the Bay.

Meeting Scheduled for Modifications to Westport Development in Cupertino

Tonight, the Cupertino Planning Commission will review several staff recommendations, including items regarding a Development Permit and an Architectural and Site Approval permit for 21267 Stevens Creek Boulevard. The site, developed by Related California has already been approved for the Westport Development Project, but revised plans would increase the size of Building 1 from 138 units to 151 units. Architects Steinburg Hart have also submitted a new ground floor plan with space allocation for the building’s amenities and retail.

A New Hotel Celebrates Inaugurated at 1100 North Mathilda Avenue, Sunnyvale

A new hotel has been inaugurated at its site located at 1100 North Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale. The project proposal included the development of a new hotel building offering 254 rooms, meeting & event space, restaurant space, onsite amenities and parking. The hotel also inaugurated a restaurant named Valley Goat that has been scoring a lot of popularity from the locals. Starwood Capital Group is the project owner. SB Architects is responsible for the designs. Rios is the landscape architect. SH Hotels & Resorts is the operator.
