An office building in the Willow Glenn area of San Jose has closed and is slated for redevelopment as an inpatient care facility. The LGTC Group filed for a conditional use permit at the site, allowing them to operate a 24-hour residential care facility serving up to 48 patients. The new facility will combine the existing 7,369-square-foot office building and a 2,548 nearby garage.
In a major pivot, developer Jay Paul Co. has decided to convert a large portion of the ongoing CityView Plaza project from office to residential. The site, at the northeast corner of Almaden Boulevard and Park Avenue in Downtown San Jose, will transform an existing four-office building campus into 320 units, rebooting construction on the project which paused last year due to poor market conditions.
Plans for the nine-story Warfield Building are shifting from residential to cultural conversion at 988 Market Street in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood. Community Arts Stabilization Trust and KALW Public Media have made a joint announcement sharing plans to turn the historic building into a hub for arts and journalism dubbed Warfield Commons. Group I had previously pursued a conversion of the Warfield Group into housing.
A new residential project has been proposed for development at 298 Munich Street in Excelsior, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the conversion of an existing commercial building to add two new residential apartments.
Recent planning applications have been filed to establish the Alexandria Theater Special Use District at 5400 Geary Boulevard in San Francisco’s Richmond District. The application comes over a year after plans first surfaced to bring new housing to the historic theater owned by TimeSpace Group.
