Construction officially started yesterday morning on the first apartment complex in the ambitious Potrero Power Station masterplan on San Francisco’s formerly industrial waterfront. The first structure to rise will be an affordable workforce housing complex named the Sophie Maxwell Building, with expectations of over seven hundred units to rise with it during the first phase of development. Associate Capital is the project developer.
New building permits have been filed for an affordable senior housing community at 967 Mission Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The nine-story complex will replace the Kapwa Gardens between 5th and 6th Street with nearly a hundred homes. The project is being sponsored by the John Stewart Company and the Bayview Seniors Services organization.
Preliminary plans have been submitted for an eight-story transitional housing block at 850 Harrison Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The mid-rise proposal has been submitted by the Salvation Army to support its extended recovery and transitional housing program. Equity Community Builders is the project developer.
The City of San Jose has submitted a request for funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for a six-story affordable housing project near Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project will create 99 units that will either become permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing units at 797 South Almaden Avenue. RCD Housing is the project developer.
The General Plan Referral has been submitted alongside updated renderings for 160 Freelon Street, a 100% affordable family housing project in SoMa, San Francisco. The nine-story proposal will create 85 large apartments close to Caltrain’s San Francisco Station, and the Fourth and Brannan stop opened with the new Central Subway extension. Related Companies and the San Francisco Housing Development Corp are sponsoring the development.
