Pre-application permits have been filed for a small residential expansion at 2428 Milvia Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The project would demolish an existing structure and serve as the relocation site of the Broad Building, an Eastlake-style Victorian at 2032 Bancroft Way. The Rhoades Planning Group is responsible for the application, filing on behalf of the property owner 1410 Haste Street LLC.
Updated preliminary permits have been filed for the eight-story infill at 2450 and 2480 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The project will bring a new mid-rise apartment complex with nearly a hundred homes close to BART and the UC Berkeley Campus. Austin Group and Chicago-based CA Ventures are jointly responsible for the development.
The Berkeley Design Review Committee is scheduled to review plans tomorrow for the eight-story residential infill at 2037 Durant Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The plan will bring dozens of homes to the city’s core thoroughfare. Studio KDA is the project’s architect and sponsor.
Preliminary permits have been cleared for an 18-story mixed-use project at 2276 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The proposal uses the State Density Bonus program to add 83 units to the quarter-acre parcel and partially preserve the landmarked Morse Block building. Vindium Real Estate is the developer and applicant.
Berkeley’s Landmark Preservation Commission has voted to protect the United Artists Theater’s facade at 2274 Shattuck Avenue but not the rest of the structure. The decision will be reviewed by the City Council in a public meeting next Tuesday. After that, the developer, Panoramic Interests, is expected to have a clear pathway to start construction for the 227-unit tower once funding is secured.
