A few weeks ago, YIMBY visited Bishop Ranch in San Ramon to learn more about plans to build thousands of new homes in the business park. The 2020-approved project has been revised to include an additional 2,6000 units on top of the former Chevron headquarters, with plans to modernize their remaining office space with added flexibility to attract and retain tenants. During our visit, YIMBY got to talk with Alex Mehran Jr, president and chief executive officer of Sunset Development Company.

Lennar Homes and Kennedy Lewis Investment Management have purchased nearly ten acres at 3401 Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon, Contra Costa County. The team received approval to replace two office structures with 117 new homes.

The San Ramon Planning Commission will review plans this evening for Bishop Ranch Block 3A, a two-structure apartment complex in San Ramon, Contra Costa County. The seven-story proposal will create over four hundred new homes at 6200 Bollinger Canyon Road as part of the much larger 4,500-unit CityWalk masterplan led by Sunset Development. AvalonBay Communities is the project sponsor.

Permits Filed for Glen at Heath Farm development in Walnut Creek

Building permits have been filed for a 354-unit senior living masterplan at 850 Seven Hills Ranch Road in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The development, named Glen at Heath Farm, will replace thirty acres of undeveloped open land with a four-story apartment structure, a two-story assisted living center, and over four dozen single-family homes. Spieker Senior Development Partners is responsible for the application.

Construction Underway for Affordable Housing in Concord

Construction is rising for a new affordable housing complex at 1313 Galindo Street in Concord, Contra Costa County. The development, named the Rick Judd Commons, will rise five floors close to the Concord BART Station. Berkeley-based RCD Housing is the developer.

New plans have been drafted for a 94-home suburban expansion along Hanson Lane in Brentwood, Contra Costa County. The single-family sprawl will redevelop 20 acres between Hanson Lane and Lone Tree Way along Marsh Creek. Meritage Homes Corporation is the project developer.

A new housing project has been proposed for development at 3401 Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon, Contra Costa County. The project proposal includes the construction of 117 low-density detached and attached housing units, replacing a bunch of commercial buildings on the site. Demolition was required for the onsite surface parking and two commercial structures beside the existing United States Postal Service offices. Nearon Enterprises, an investment company, based in Walnut Creek, is listed as the property owner. Lennar is the project developer. WHA, William Hezmalhalch Architects, is responsible for the designs.

New details have been released for one of the largest projects in the region, a several-thousand-unit mixed-housing expansion across the former Concord Naval Weapons Station in Concord, the largest city in Contra Costa County. Details must be released, but the project is expected to create over ten thousand dwelling units over the 2,350-acre property.

The project, addressed at 6151 Bollinger Canyon Road, is the first in a massive 600-acre masterplan led by Sunset Development to transform a car-oriented office campus into a walkable city with 4,500 homes, parks, and shops. Belmont Village Senior Housing is the project sponsor, and Sunset Development is the property owner.
