AIASF Opens Center for Architecture + Design in Historic San Francisco Building

The American Institute of Architects, San Francisco, opened its new headquarters and the Center for Architecture + Design last Friday at 140 Sutter Street in downtown San Francisco. The civic-minded institution will provide a new cultural hub for lectures, events, and film screenings inside the historic Hallidie Building. Aidlin Darling Design, a San Francisco-based architecture firm, is responsible for the interior design, working alongside a team of collaborators.

Jay Hotel Opening Soon at 333 Battery Street in Financial District, San Francisco

Renovation work is wrapping up for what will become the only new hotel to open in San Francisco’s Financial District. The former Le Méridien at 333 Battery Street was purchased by KHP Capital Partners for $221 million in 2021 and is expected to open later this year as the Jay Hotel. The 25-story hotel first opened in 1989 with the architecture by John Portman & Associates.

Futuristic Foster + Partners Design For 3 Transamerica in Financial District, San Francisco

New renderings have been published for the renovations of 3 Transamerica for the Transamerica Complex redevelopment by SHVO in San Francisco’s Financial District. The project will double the structure’s height and floor capacity, partially reskin the building with a futuristic design by Foster + Partners, and expand the famous Redwood Park. The $400 million master plan includes renovations of the lobby and interiors of the city’s landmark Transamerica Pyramid.
