City Council recently approved a housing project proposed at 578 7th Street in Downtown, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a five-story building featuring 57 residential units. Plans call for the demolition of the existing vacant single-story 6,000-square foot commercial structure, occupied by La Borinqueña, a ‘Mexi-catessen’ grocery and bakery store. The property will be developed on a vacant lot at 1338 Oakland Road in San Jose. Plans also call for the removal of one non-ordinance sized tree. Urban Mint Hospitality LLC is the property owner.
