Affordable Housing Project Approved At 578 7th Street In Downtown Oakland

City Council recently approved a housing project proposed at 578 7th Street in Downtown, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a five-story building featuring 57 residential units. Plans call for the demolition of the existing vacant single-story 6,000-square foot commercial structure, occupied by La Borinqueña, a ‘Mexi-catessen’ grocery and bakery store. Riaz Capital is the project applicant. Stanley Saitowitz | Natoma Architects is responsible for the design concepts. Plea Partners LLC is the property owner.

Construction Underway for Palo Alto Public Safety Building at 250 Sherman Avenue

Construction work has been making progress for the new Palo Alto Public Safety Building at 250 Sherman Avenue in Palo Alto’s Evergreen Park neighborhood. Groundbreaking occurred in June of this year, replacing downtown surface parking with a three-story municipal office building for the Santa Clara County city. The building will function as a police station and administration office for the fire and police departments.

Excavation work is underway; that is the headlining story from a recent site visit to the 40.5-acre construction site of Google Caribbean in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County. Two Ziggurat-like office buildings will soon rise with design by Bjarke Ingels Group, an internationally renowned architecture firm founded in Denmark. Google has tapped Sares Regis as development manager.
