Detailed plans have been published for the mixed-use redevelopment of the former United States Geological Survey offices at 345 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The property could accommodate hundreds of new apartments and nearly double the office space next to the proposed Parkline masterplan, and be less than half a mile from a potential new skyscraper at 80 Willow Road. Presidio Bay Ventures is responsible for the application.

The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tonight for an expanded preschool operated by San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin in the Japantown neighborhood. The project would span well over an acre across several lots at 639-645 North Fifth Street and 620-642 North Fourth Street. The Buddhist church is responsible for the application.

City Approves The Rise in Cupertino

The City of Cupertino has approved plans for The Rise, a massive mixed-use proposal for thousands of homes, retail, offices, and parking garages on the former Vallco Mall property close to Apple Park. The green-lit project is a modified version revealed in December of last year, with a new towerless design, a remarkable shift from the previous plan. Sand Hill Property Company is the project developer.

UC Law Opens The Academe at 198 in San Francisco

UC Law San Francisco has completed construction on The Academe at 198, a mixed-use building with student housing and classrooms at 198 McAllister Street in Civic Center, San Francisco. The 14-story structure is the second phase of the Academic Village redevelopment led by UCSF and Greystar.

Demolition permits have been filed for three two-story commercial office blocks at 653, 657, and 665 Harrison Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The activity comes alongside recently approved modifications to the 35-story residential component of One Vassar, a three-tower mixed-use masterplan. Cresleigh Management Inc., linked to Stanford Hotels Corporation, is listed as the property owner.

Renderings Revealed For Future United Playaz Clubhouse in San Francisco

Renderings have been published for the future clubhouse of United Playaz, a 27-year-old non-profit based in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood. The project, aided by $2 million of state funds procured last year, will renovate the existing two-story structure at 1044 Howard Street with a community center. Arquitectonica is the project architect.

Renderings Revealed for 50-Story Skyscraper in Sunset District, San Francisco

Renderings have been revealed for the proposed 50-story skyscraper at 2700 Sloat Boulevard in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco. The 589-foot tall structure hopes to replace the Sloat Garden Center across from the San Francisco Zoo with 680 for-ownership homes and new retail designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz. Raelynn Hickey of CH Planning is responsible for the application.

New building permits have been filed by Bright Street Inc for 2065 Kittredge Street, an eight-story residential proposal in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The applications are to demolition two of the three buildings required for the 188-unit development. Chicago-based CA Ventures is responsible as the building owner.

The eight-story project would replace three low-rise commercial buildings with an off-campus student housing building in the heart of Downtown Berkeley. CA Ventures, an international development firm based in Chicago, is responsible for the application.

Construction Underway on UCSF Research Building at S.F. General Hospital

Construction work has topped out with facade installation imminent on the latest addition to the UCSF Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, or ZSFG. The five-story building is rising at the corner of 23rd and Vermont Street in the Mission District, on what was once a surface parking lot. The UC Board of Regents is responsible for the project.
