Westbank Considers Converting Bank of Italy Tower to Housing

Westbank and Urban Community have submitted new plans to convert Downtown San Jose’s iconic Bank of Italy tower into housing. The adaptive reuse of the office tower would create well over a hundred apartments across most of the 13-story building. The filing comes as the region struggles with record-high office vacancy rates.

Excavation Underway for Life Sciences in San Carlos, San Mateo County

Construction has started with excavation work well underway for a new six-story life sciences complex at 405 Industrial Road in San Carlos, San Mateo County. The project, now named ​​Portal 405, is one of several life science projects rising along Industrial Road, contributing to a new life sciences hub in the San Francisco Peninsula market. Upcoming Director’s Hearing for SoFA by Nabr in Downtown San Jose

The plan for a three-tower development in Downtown San Jose is up for public review at a Planning Director’s Hearing tomorrow, December 14th. The meeting comes after the publication of the initial study for the residential infill. The 474-unit project is a joint development with Nabr, a new direct-to-consumer housing startup, and the established local developers at Urban Community.
