Westbank has submitted updated plans to pivot from offices to housing to replace the Charles Davidson Building at 255 West Julian Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project was one of several high-profile projects within the Westbank masterplan developed in collaboration with Urban Community. This shift marks the fourth iteration for the vacant freeway-side parcel and the second time Urban Community proposed housing.

Mission Rock Opens Waterfront Park, Starts Leasing for Verde, San Francisco

While the San Francisco Giants are settling into the new baseball season, they have been welcoming another crowd just across McCovey Cove. The team, in partnership with Tishman Speyer and other stakeholders, celebrated the official opening of China Basin Park yesterday morning, two days after announcing that leasing has started for the Studio Gang-designed residential tower, aptly named Verde. Construction is nearly over for the first phase of the city’s mixed-use Mission Rock master plan.

Studio Gang-Designed Tower Topped Out in Mission Rock, San Francisco

Construction has topped out with the installation of the eye-catching green ceramic tile facade just one floor from its peak on Mission Rock Parcel F in San Francisco’s Mission Bay. The 23-story tower is the last of four builds in phase one of the Mission Rock master plan. Parcel F was developed by Mission Rock Partners, a joint venture by the San Francisco Giants and Tishman Speyer. Chicago-based Studio Gang is the design architect.

Construction Underway for California College of the Arts Expansion in San Francisco

Steel and wood have started to rise for the California College of the Arts expansion at 1140 7th Street in San Francisco. The new facilities, named Double Ground, allow CCA to close its Oakland campus and consolidate into the Design District neighborhood with a new landmark addition designed by the renowned Chicago-based architecture firm, Studio Gang. The new construction will integrate exposed concrete and mass timber within a new creative complex at the core of the urban campus.
