Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority has taken another step forward in securing funds for its planned expansion of BART into Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara. The State of California awarded $375 million to the Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority on Tuesday.
Construction financing for the eight-story hotel at 495 West San Carlos Street by Diridon Station in San Jose has been secured. The project will open a 176-room Marriott TowneSuites Hotel by the Google Downtown West mixed-use plan. Urban Catalyst, the project developer, has shared with YIMBY that they expect to start demolition during the next couple of weeks.
Plans are underway for two new apartment buildings to replace surface parking owned by the Cathedral of Faith Church at 2315 Canoas Garden Avenue in South San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project will create 237 new affordable apartments with dedicated services. Sand Hill Property Company is the project developer.
The San Jose Planning Commission is scheduled to review the site development permits proposal for the redevelopment of the former Fry’s Electronics property at 550 East Brokaw Road in North San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project would reshape a 19.7-acre property occupied by the box store and surface parking with almost two million square feet of office space and a public park. Bay West Development is responsible for the proposal, with architectural design by Gensler.
A residential project proposed for development has received a substantial amount of financial support to reach completion at 1197 Lick Avenue in San Jose. The project proposal includes the construction of 569 residential units next to the Tamien train station. Two veteran real estate developers, The Core Cos. and Republic Urban Properties, are the project developers. Studio T Square is responsible for the designs.
