Preliminary Design Review Pending For 2000 University Avenue, Downtown Berkeley

An application has been submitted to the Berkeley Design Review Committee seeking the approval of a new eight-story mixed-use building at 2000 University Avenue and 2001 Milvia in Downtown Berkeley. The project proposal includes the demolition of the two existing commercial structures and the construction of a building with 82 dwelling units and commercial space. The proposed demolition was submitted to Landmarks Preservation Commission for review on March 4, 2021, for which no action was taken.

Construction Underway for Modera Acheson Commons, Downtown Berkeley

Construction has topped out for the MacFarlane Building at 2111 University Avenue, one of four residential structures rising at the Modera Acheson Commons project in Downtown Berkeley. Each structure makes adaptive reuse of low-rise commercial sites to add 205 new apartments to the Berkeley housing market. Mill Creek Residential is sponsoring as the project applicant after acquiring the site from Equity Residential in 2016.

Construction Topped Out for Phase One of 2352 Shattuck Avenue, Downtown Berkeley

Construction has topped out for the first of two phases of Logan Park, a residential development at 2352 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The eight-story structure will have two-thirds of the 204 total apartments expected from the project, of which 14 will be sold to residents in the Very Low-Income bracket. The Austin Group and CA Ventures are the project developers.

Construction of Residence Inn by Marriott Nearly Topped Out at 2129 Shattuck Avenue, Downtown Berkeley

Construction is nearly topped out for one of Berkeley’s tallest buildings, a 168-foot hotel at 2129 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. Crews have begun installing the windows and exterior insulation, while the concrete core is still exposed in lieu of the curtain wall feature at the corner of Shattuck and Center Street. A rooftop canopy remains to be installed before the project can be described as topped out. The development was proposed by Center Street Partners LLC. Pyramid Hotel Group manages the project and will operate the hotel once complete under the Residence Inn by Marriott brand.

Permits and Rendering for 2176 Kittredge Street, Downtown Berkeley

New building permits have been filed to construct a 169-residence mixed-use structure at 2150 Kittredge Street, a heavily-trafficked location between the UC Berkeley Campus and the BART station in downtown Berkeley. The development will rise up to the city’s height limit of 75 feet, matching the scale of almost every building in the city center. The design team, Kava Massih Architects, is responsible for the application.
