Lake Merritt BART Development Up for Approval Today in Oakland Planning Commission

The City of Oakland’s Planning Department is scheduled today to review the preliminary development plans and receive public comment about the mixed-use proposal around the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland. The proposal would reshape two city blocks at 51 9th Street and 107 8th Street with apartments, office space, retail, open space, and community amenities. The prolific Strada Investment Group and the Oakland-based East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are responsible through a joint venture.

Illustrations Revealed Ahead of Meeting for BART’s El Cerrito Plaza Proposal

New illustrations have been revealed for BART’s proposed redevelopment of El Cerrito Plaza in El Cerrito, Contra Costa County. The images were released ahead of the El Cerrito city council meeting tonight at 7 PM. The transit-oriented project would create 750-800 new apartments ranging from market rate to low-income housing. Holliday Development, Related California, and SAHA are responsible for the development.

Recent photographs show significant progress has been made in phase one of the waterfront Brooklyn Basin development in Oakland since the last site visit by SFYIMBY. Groundbreaking has occurred for 845 Embarcadero, wood is rising for Parcel A, and a platform for future pedestrian space by Parcel J is taking shape.
