New Renderings Revealed for 2,387-home Freedom West Proposal, Fillmore District, San Francisco

New renderings have been revealed along with updated planning documents for Freedom West, a multi-billion dollar project to build 2,387 new residential units in San Francisco’s Fillmore District. The development will offer replacement housing for all displaced residents while adding a new hotel, retail, community spaces, and new open space. MacFarlane Development Company is responsible for the application.

Environmental Review Published for 1125 Arguello Street, Redwood City, San Mateo County

California has published the draft Environmental Impact Report for 1125 Arguello Street, a mixed-use office and housing project in Redwood City, San Mateo County. The plan calls to replace several low-rise commercial structures and asphalt with hundreds of thousands of square feet of office space, a few dozen units of affordable housing, and a childcare facility. Hines is responsible for the development.

Number 20: 44 Montgomery Street, Financial District, San Francisco

The 20th tallest tower in the Bay Area planned or built is 44 Montgomery Street, built in San Francisco’s Financial District. Completed in 1967, the 565-foot tall structure surpassed 650 California Street’s pinnacle and became the tallest building in the United States west of Dallas. John Graham & Company, best known for the Seattle Space Needle, is responsible for the architecture.

Developers Filed Preliminary Project Assessment for Freedom West, San Francisco

Developers have completed and submitted the preliminary project assessment letter, or PPA, for the $2 billion Freedom West project around 710 McAllister Street in San Francisco’s Filmore District. In the letter, San Francisco’s Planning Department staff expressed support for Freedom West to build 2,305 new apartments with affordable housing across four city blocks. PPA is the initial process that evaluates moderate to large proposals before development applications are filed.
