UC Berkeley Holds Grand Opening for Expanded Engineering Center

On April 21st, The University of California at Berkeley celebrated the grand opening of the cutting-edge and newly re-envisioned Grimes Engineering Center. The formal Bechtal engineering building served as a foundation for the expanded project, a 35,500 two-story glass pavilion with a three-level open forum at its center. Skidmore Owning and Merill are responsible for the design, with PGA Design responsible for landscaping.

New Funding Secured for Point Reyes Affordable Housing

Late last month, the Marin County Board of Supervisors voted to approve almost $9.5 million in funding for the refurbishment of 100 Commodore Webster Drive, the old Point Reyes Coast Guard Station, into 54 affordable housing units. The presentation brought by the Marin County Community Development Agency was supported by a number of speakers, including representatives of Eden Housing and CLAM, the developers for the project.

Appeal Rejected for Residential Conversion of 2395 Sacramento Street, Pacific Heights, San Francisco

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has allowed plans to proceed with the residential conversion of the Lane Medical Library at 2395 Sacramento Street in Pacific Heights, San Francisco. The board voted 10-1 to reject an appeal of the project that would have prompted further environmental review. March Capital Management is the project developer.
