New affordable housing has officially opened at 1221 Lick Avenue next to Tamien Station in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The Tamien Station Apartments is a 135-unit transit-oriented development built to replace a surface parking lot owned by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. The Core Companies is the project developer.
New project details have been revealed ahead of tomorrow’s meeting about expanding the Diridon Station in San Jose. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s Diridon Joint Policy Advisory Board will review three design options to accommodate increased Caltrain services, integrate High-Speed Rail, and connect to the future BART extension. As expected for an infrastructure project in the Bay Area, the costs are astronomical, ranging from $2.5 billion to $13 billion.
New plans have been published for a five-story affordable housing proposal at 2400 Winchester Boulevard in Campbell, Santa Clara County. The proposal will bring 90 new apartments on VTA-owned land at the Winchester Light Rail Station. Related California and PATH Ventures are jointly sponsoring the development.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority has entered a formal lease agreement to construct a ten-story affordable housing project on the vacant lot next to the Berryessa Transit Center in San Jose, Santa Clara County. Affirmed Housing Group is now working to create 195 units of low-income housing for individuals and families within the planned transit-oriented Urban Village.
