Mayor Sheng Thao recently announced that the Liberation Park affordable housing proposal will receive $44 million of state financing. The money will help construct over a hundred units at 6955 Foothill Boulevard in East Oakland. The project is a joint venture between Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation and Eden Housing.
Construction has topped out for 7th and Brannan, an affordable housing project underway at 600 7th Street in SoMa, San Francisco. Crews have brought the concrete structure to its 84-foot pinnacle, preparing the future 221 units for a potential opening later this year. Mercy Housing is the project developer.
This morning, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee meeting will consider providing millions for the stalled affordable housing project at 78 Haight Street in Hayes Valley. The project developer, TNDC, started work in 2022 but was stalled after a neighboring property owner complained about construction compromising their structure’s foundation.

Updated plans are scheduled to be reviewed tonight for the three-building residential infill of 1532-1556 Mount Diablo Boulevard in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The development will replace the low-slung property close to some of the city’s busiest shops with 42 homes and retail. Align Real Estate is the development owner, with the international Woods Bagot responsible for design.
