Significant San Francisco Symphony Hall Renovation Proposed

The San Francisco Symphony has started the entitlement process for renovations of the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall at 201 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco’s Civic Center. While plans are preliminary, the Symphony has hired local Mark Cavagnero Associates and the world-renowned Gehry Partners to produce a dramatic reimagination inside and out. Construction is expected to cost at least $100 million.

Plan Progress for Housing at 575 East Blithedale Avenue in Mill Valley, Marin County

A notice of exemption has been released for the residential project at 575 East Blithedale Avenue on Kite Hill in Mill Valley, Marin County. The exemption paves the way for the plans to move through the California Environmental Quality Act, bringing plans to create 25 homes on 1.2 acres closer to construction after nearly two decades of trying. Phil Richardson, the project sponsor, created the first draft in 2004.

YIMBY Visits Treasure Island, San Francisco

A recent site visit to Treasure Island by YIMBY reveals significant progress has been made for the region’s most active construction project. Cranes and rising concrete have only started to divulge the scale of the 405-acre vision, nearly three decades in the making, that will redevelop San Francisco’s storied artificial island with a mixed-use urban neighborhood populated by around eight thousand homes. The Treasure Island Community Development joint venture sponsors the project.
