YIMBY Visits Treasure Island, San Francisco

A recent site visit to Treasure Island by YIMBY reveals significant progress has been made for the region’s most active construction project. Cranes and rising concrete have only started to divulge the scale of the 405-acre vision, nearly three decades in the making, that will redevelop San Francisco’s storied artificial island with a mixed-use urban neighborhood populated by around eight thousand homes. The Treasure Island Community Development joint venture sponsors the project.

Plans for Expansion of Synagogue at 2 Lake Street, San Francisco

New plans have been filed to expand and renovate the Synagogue at 2 Lake Street near Presidio Terrace, San Francisco. The project would address seismic concerns and expand the religious facility for the Congregation Emanu-El, whose distinctive dome overlooks the affluent gated neighborhood. The project is being sponsored by the Congregation of Emanu-El and Equity Community Builders.

Grading Permits Filed for Treasure Island Building C3.4, San Francisco

Grading permits have been filed for Building C3.4 in the redevelopment of Treasure Island in San Francisco. Building C3.4 will create 160 units, a portion of the 8,000-unit masterplan that aims to reshape the artificial island in the center of the bay into a thriving neighborhood with housing, offices, and shops. Lennar Corporation, a Treasure Island Community Development (TICD) venture partner, is responsible for the application.

New Creative Arts Building Opens on San Francisco State University Campus

For the first time in 25 years, San Francisco State University has opened a new academic building. The project includes the construction of the George and Judy Marcus Hall for the Liberal and Creative Arts Building, which is home to SFSU’s Broadcast and Electronic Communications Arts (BECA) program.

McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor. Mark Cavagnero Associates is responsible for the design concepts. SWA Group is managing the landscape architecture. Other project participants include Forell|Elsesser Structural Engineers, CSW civil engineering, and WSP for mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP).
