Westbank Considers Converting Bank of Italy Tower to Housing

Westbank and Urban Community have submitted new plans to convert Downtown San Jose’s iconic Bank of Italy tower into housing. The adaptive reuse of the office tower would create well over a hundred apartments across most of the 13-story building. The filing comes as the region struggles with record-high office vacancy rates.

Groundbreaking Expected In November for Tree-Lined Apartments In Downtown San Jose

A new residential project has been proposed for development at 409 South Second Street in Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project proposal includes the construction of a new 30-story high-rise apartment tower. Canadian developer Westbank has partnered with the local real estate firm Urban Community as the project developers. James K.M. Cheng Architects is responsible for the design, with Steinberg Hart operating as the architect of record

Energy Hub Tower Proposal for Downtown San Jose Pushes Forward, Council Vote Expected Next Month

The amended Draft Environmental Impact Report has been published for the 21-story mixed-use proposal at 35 South Second Street in Downtown San Jose. The project, dubbed the Energy Hub Tower, is scheduled for review by the Planning Commission next week, and the city council is expected to consider final approval for the plans in mid-December. If approved, it will bring the development team, Westbank and Urban Community, closer to adding the Bjarke Ingels Group-designed tower to fruition.
