Renovation Plans For the Knox- Goodrich Building In San Jose

Preservation plans for the Knox- Goodrich Building at 34-36 South First Street, downtown San Jose, have been prepared. The proposed renovation includes retaining the three-story, 7900-square foot Knox-Goodrich Building while building an approximately 91,992-square foot, seven-story commercial building for office and retail uses west of, and internally connected to, the historic structure. The proposed new structure has a roof height of 86 feet, with rooftop projections reaching 99 feet. The project description is based on the Site Development Permit and Historic Preservation Permit drawings by Studio Current and Brick Inc.

995 East Santa Clara Street Purchased by First Community Housing, Roosevelt Park, San Jose

995 East Santa Clara Street has been purchased by the Bay Area-based First Community Housing residential developer for $5.5 million. The East Bay Times reports that the purchase brings FCH a step closer to realizing a 125-unit affordable housing structure on an 18,300 square foot parcel near downtown San Jose. The project benefits from San Jose’s General Plan 2040 Urban Village zoning.

Hotel Plans Progress for 8 Almaden Boulevard, Downtown San Jose

Santa Clara County Superior Court has upheld approval for KT Urban to build the 19-story Moxy Hotel at 8 Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose. The development will add 272 new hotel rooms with retail to the urban core of Silicon Valley, packing inside the high-rise. The 225-foot tower will yield 146,282 square feet, with a Floor Area Ratio of 16.7. Guest rooms will occupy floors three to eighteen, while the ground level includes an open lounge and a restaurant with a bar. Guests and visitors alike will also have access to a bar on the 19th floor with skyline views.
