Oakland’s Jack London Square Ballpark Masterplan Could Host Second Tallest Tower in City

Recently published documents by the City of Oakland show that the Oakland Waterfront Ballpark District project could see two 600-foot towers beside the 35,000-person ballpark. If fabricated today, they would be the tallest skyscrapers in California outside of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Hines’ 622-foot proposal for Oakland at 415 20th Street is the only proposal that would be taller. The Oakland A’s are the project developer and sponsor, operating through the Oakland Athletics Investment Group LLC.

New building permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building for 335 3rd Street, located in Jack London District, Oakland. The project, named R2 Building, will bring 38 houses to the waterfront neighborhood, of which three will be sold as affordable to residents making up to 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). RAD Urban is responsible for the development.

Permits have been filed to build a 7-story mixed-use structure at 419 4th Street in the Jack London Square neighborhood of Oakland. The address sits between Broadway and Franklin Street. The site is within walking distance of downtown Oakland and is six blocks away from the Oakland Jack London Square. While renderings have not been released, we can confirm that Lowney Architectureis responsible for the design.
