Renovation work is wrapping up for what will become the only new hotel to open in San Francisco’s Financial District. The former Le Méridien at 333 Battery Street was purchased by KHP Capital Partners for $221 million in 2021 and is expected to open later this year as the Jay Hotel. The 25-story hotel first opened in 1989 with the architecture by John Portman & Associates.
New renderings have been published alongside an updated construction timeline for 2530 18th Street in San Francisco’s Mission District. The development will create a new home for the Homeless Prenatal Program resource agency and 73 new affordable homes. HPP is working with the developer Mercy Housing. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2024.
New building permits have been filed for a two-unit residential infill at 6 Caine Avenue in Oceanview, San Francisco. The plan will replace a small vacant parcel close to Balboa BART and light rail. Stephen Antonaros Architect is listed as responsible for the application and design.
Major design changes have been revealed for the narrow eight-story hotel infill at 12 Mint Plaza in SoMa, San Francisco. The updated style will provide a reflection of the neighborhood’s historic architecture rather than a contemporary contrast. Elsey Partners is responsible for the development.
The updated designs have been approved for a new office and R&D development proposed at 800 Dubuque Avenue in South San Francisco, San Mateo County. The project proposal includes the construction of three new office and Research and Development (R&D) buildings, offering spaces for parking and events. Plans also call for the demolition of all existing buildings and site improvements. IQHQ is the project developer. BKF is consulting on civil engineering, and Magnusson Klemencic Associates will consult on structural engineering. Perkins+Will is the project architect. Surfacedesign Inc will oversee the landscape architecture.
