New building permits have been filed for the construction of a new four-story center for the Jewish Family and Children’s Services Holocaust Center at 2245 Post Street in the Lower Pacific Heights, San Francisco. The complex will serve as a future headquarters for the non-profit social service organization, alongside a ground-floor exhibition, archives, a Holocaust library, and meeting spaces. JFCS is listed as the property owner.

Plans Shift for Warfield Building Conversion in San Francisco

Plans for the nine-story Warfield Building are shifting from residential to cultural conversion at 988 Market Street in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood. Community Arts Stabilization Trust and KALW Public Media have made a joint announcement sharing plans to turn the historic building into a hub for arts and journalism dubbed Warfield Commons. Group I had previously pursued a conversion of the Warfield Group into housing.

A new three-story building has been proposed for use as the African American Holistic Resource Center (AAHRC) on a project site located at 1890 Alcatraz Avenue in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the development of a three-story facility to host services to benefit the African American community with education, employment, health, mental health, and housing advocacy and support. The City of Berkeley is the property owner. The design team includes the AAHRC Steering Committee, City Staff, and AE3 Partners, Inc.

Updated Plans for Artists Hub On Market, San Francisco

Updated plans have been submitted for the affordable housing proposal at 1687 Market Street in San Francisco. The project aims to create a 17-story complex with 101 apartments and a new hub for the arts community. Mercy Housing and the Artists Hub On Market are joint sponsors for the project. Pacific Union Development will be operating as the owner’s representative.

City Approval For United Irish Cultural Center in Sunset District, San Francisco

The San Francisco Planning Department has approved plans for a new United Irish Cultural Center at 2700 45th Avenue in the Sunset District neighborhood. The project will create a new six-story home for the over-half-century-old local organization with a solid blue Kilkenny limestone exterior. The densely packed facility will create new community space, including a two-level Saint Patrick’s Room banquet hall, offices, and a public gallery.

Plans Increase For 2115 Kittredge Street, Downtown Berkeley

New zoning permits have been filed for a slightly taller iteration of the California Theater Housing tower at 2115 Kittredge Street in Downtown Berkeley, Alameda County. The updates now aim to reach 23 floors above street level, retaining the planned live performance theater and adjusting the residential capacity. Rhode Island-based Gilbane Development is responsible for the project.

Formal Application for Mountain Winery Redevelopment in Saratoga

Formal permits have been submitted for Encore Estates, the builder’s remedy-assisted plans to add hundreds of homes and an 81-room hotel at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Santa Clara County. Alongside new housing, the project will add a clubhouse, gatehouse, and additional parking to the historic winery and concert venue. William Hirschman of Lexor Builders is responsible for the application.

Meeting Tomorrow for Redevelopment of San Francisco Symphony

The San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled to review plans tomorrow afternoon for the redevelopment of the San Francisco Symphony Hall at 201 Van Ness Avenue in the Civic Center. The meeting will review plans by Mark Cavagnero Associates to replace most of the facade with curtain-wall glass and expand the building footprint.

City Rejects Appeal for 2115 Kittredge Street, Downtown Berkeley

Berkeley City Council has rejected an appeal of 2115 Kittredge Street, the proposed 18-story apartment tower to rise above California Theater in Downtown Berkeley. The project requires partial demolition of the 1914-opened theater, retaining the facade and bringing a new live performance space below over two hundred new apartments. Gilbane Development is responsible for the project.
