Zoning changes that support the development of a new project have been approved for a new life sciences campus at 1333 2nd Street in West Berkeley. The project proposal includes the construction of a new . The project site previously housed Pacific Steel Casting in West Berkeley. Plans call for the demolition of the foundry and the nearby former home of Berkeley Forge and Tool. The project site spans an area of 10 acres. The scope of work includes the demolition of the former Pacific Steel Casting plant that was shut down in 2018 and development of a hub for life sciences companies.
At last Wednesday’s meeting, San Jose’s Planning Commission approved the development plan of a 13.68-acre site at 2256 Junction Avenue in North San Jose.
