Construction work has topped out with facade installation nearly complete for the four-story life science project at 777 Industrial Road in San Carlos, San Mateo County. The project rose quickly since our prior coverage in June last year when demolition had finished for everything but a single floor for adaptive reuse. Presidio Bay Ventures is the project developer, and W.L. Butler is the general contractor.

The project is part of a new hub for the biotech and medical research market on the Peninsula. Premia Capital and Prince Street Partners were jointly responsible for the development before selling it to the Florida State Board of Administration in 2021 for $177 million.

The project, named ‘The Edge,’ will create 28 large apartments directly across from the UC Berkeley campus, designed to meet the city’s high demand for student living. Ruegg & Ellsworth is responsible for the project as the building owner.
New renderings have been published for the seven-story mixed-use development at 1881 West San Carlos Street in Burbank, San Jose. The Project will replace four low-slung commercial structures with condominiums and a senior care facility above retail. Lori Greymont of Morgan Hill is listed as the property owner.
The Oakland Planning Commission has scheduled an in-person meeting to review plans for a 17-story office tower at 1919 Webster Street in Downtown Oakland, Alameda County. The proposal is a roughly 9-story reduction from the initial office plans for the central location, reflecting the cooling climate for office space in the Bay Area. Ellis Partners is responsible for the application.
