Concrete is nearly topping out for the affordable senior housing project rising over the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland, Alameda County. Once complete, the eight-story apartment complex is expected to add 97 units above the transit hub and across from the Laney College campus. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is responsible for the development.
The project team gathered late last week for the ceremonial grand opening of the Kelsey Civic Center at 240 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. Doors are now open for the 112 units of affordable housing above a Disability Cultural Center. The development is a joint venture between Mercy Housing and The Kelsey.
Construction has started for The Fielden, a five-story affordable housing development at 525 North Capitol Avenue in East San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project is adding 160 units for low-income families, veterans, and former homeless neighbors. Community Development Partners is the developer.

The project adds 79 apartments close to the Bayfair BART Station and shopping mall. Berkeley-based RCD Housing is the project developer.
The initial review process has been closed for an affordable housing proposal at 375 Laguna Honda Boulevard, next to the Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco. The eye-catching proposal aims to construct over two hundred apartments across a circular six-story master plan for low-income seniors adjacent to a publicly funded medical institution. Mercy Housing is responsible for the application.
