The Palo Alto Architectural Review Board is scheduled to meet this morning to discuss plans to convert a vacant movie theater into office space within the Palo Alto Square office campus. The property, at 3000 El Camino Real, had been occupied by the CinéArts at Palo Alto Square Theater until it permanently shuttered in 2021. Hudson Pacific Properties is the project client.
Preliminary plans have been filed for a 28-story senior living tower at 1800 Broadway in Redwood City, San Mateo County. Initial illustrations show the tower, right across from a Kaiser Permanente medical campus, could reach 310 feet tall, which would make is the second-tallest building in the county. Palo Alto-based R&M Properties is the project developer.
Increased permits have been filed for a dense residential infill at 550 O’Farrell Street in the Tenderloin, San Francisco. The application will now reach 17 floors, four additional levels, and thirty units more than previously filed plans. Sandhill O’Farrell LLC is the project sponsor.
Facade installation has started for the historic Resources Building at 1416 9th Street in Downtown Sacramento. The 17-story building constructed for the California Department of General Services sixty years ago, once the tallest building in Sacramento, is being remodeled with upgraded facilities and a new glassy facade.
Demolition and excavation work is underway for two major projects in the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. Crews finished removing the seven-story UC Hall, and only a corner of the four-story Mental Health Services building remains as of our visit. The sites are expected to be transformed into a research building and hospital, with both scheduled to finish by 2028 and 2030, respectively.
