Demolition Underway for UC Parnassus Heights Hospital and Research Building

Demolition and excavation work is underway for two major projects in the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus in San Francisco. Crews finished removing the seven-story UC Hall, and only a corner of the four-story ​​Mental Health Services building remains as of our visit. The sites are expected to be transformed into a research building and hospital, with both scheduled to finish by 2028 and 2030, respectively.

UC Berkeley Announces $2 Billion Space Center At NASA Ames Research Center

New plans have been revealed for a $2 billion research center run by UC Berkeley at the NASA Ames Center in Mountain View, Santa Clara County. The Berkeley Space Center, as it will be called, will reshape 36 acres on the sprawling Ames Research Center, providing a hub for future companies to collaborate with the school and NASA scientists & engineers to improve technology for aviation, space exploration, and how people live and work in space.

Meeting Today for Tanforan Mall Redevelopment Project in San Bruno

The preliminary project application will be reviewed today with the San Bruno City Council. The 44-acre masterplan led by Alexandria Real Estate Equities will reshape the existing BART-connected mall with new retail, homes, and a life science campus. The plans have been able to move ahead since Alexandria purchased the final necessary parcel of land in February of this year. The total cost for the 44-acre San Mateo County campus was just under $330 million.

With its opening, San Francisco will get its newest waterfront park, spanning 14 acres and creating a comfortable pedestrian connection from the Main Parade Lawn to Crissy Field Beach. The day has been co-curated by the Partnership for the Presidio and community members.
