Preliminary Plans Revealed for Lake Merritt BART Development, Downtown Oakland

The City of Oakland’s Design Review Commission is scheduled today to review plans for a substantial twin-block development surrounding the Lake Merritt BART Station in Downtown Oakland. The two blocks at 51 9th Street and 107 8th Street will create half a million square feet of new office space, retail, community amenities and contribute hundreds of new apartments to the Oakland housing market. Strada Investment Group and the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are jointly responsible for the development.

The preliminary project assessment application has been closed as plans advance for the six-story mixed-use building at 80 Julian Avenue, to be called The Village, in the Mission District, San Francisco. Friendship House, the project lead, describes The Village as a unique urban proposal, an inter-tribal community coalition center for Native organizations and groups serving the city’s Indigenous population.

AERO Apartments at 2000 Ardent Way Launching in Alameda Point Waterfront District, Alameda

Cypress Equity and Equity Residential have announced the residential launch of the AERO Apartments, located at 2000 Ardent Way in the Alameda Point Waterfront District. The development is part of a master plan which expects to draw $1 billion of development at the 68-acre former Naval Air Station in Alameda. Move-ins are expected by the second quarter of this year.

Related CA, Holliday Development, To Develop Housing at El Cerrito Plaza BART Station

BART has announced that they have picked two developers to form a joint venture for 780 new residences around the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station, with 49% units as affordable, and a public library. Related California and Holliday Development were chosen. The joint venture now must negotiate the terms of agreement with BART to start the two-to-three-year process of producing a development concept.
