Construction of Residence Inn by Marriott Nearly Topped Out at 2129 Shattuck Avenue, Downtown Berkeley

Construction is nearly topped out for one of Berkeley’s tallest buildings, a 168-foot hotel at 2129 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. Crews have begun installing the windows and exterior insulation, while the concrete core is still exposed in lieu of the curtain wall feature at the corner of Shattuck and Center Street. A rooftop canopy remains to be installed before the project can be described as topped out. The development was proposed by Center Street Partners LLC. Pyramid Hotel Group manages the project and will operate the hotel once complete under the Residence Inn by Marriott brand.

New Medical Facility for Bayer Reviewed at 800 Dwight Way, Southwest Berkeley

Berkeley’s Design Review Committee is expected to approve a new three-story medical facility at 800 Dwight Way, just blocks from the waterfront Aquatic Park in industrial Southwest Berkeley. The project, dubbed Building 69, is to house phases two and three of Bayer’s Cell Culture Technology Center. PM Group is responsible for the design and project management.

Development permits were submitted for approving the construction of a three-story condominium building at 3031 Adeline Street in South Berkeley, Berkeley. The project proposal includes demolishing an existing 1,000 square feet commercial structure and constructing a five-story building with forty-two condominium units. Dinar & Associates are managing the design concept and construction of the housing project.

New building permits have been filed to construct a 169-residence mixed-use structure at 2150 Kittredge Street, a heavily-trafficked location between the UC Berkeley Campus and the BART station in downtown Berkeley. The development will rise up to the city’s height limit of 75 feet, matching the scale of almost every building in the city center. The design team, Kava Massih Architects, is responsible for the application.

New renderings are out for 2015 Blake Street after the development team resubmitted plans for the multi-structure residential project on Downtown Berkeley’s edge. The seven-story and three-story buildings yield 168 units with parking and open space on-site. Laconia Development LLC is responsible for the project.

New building permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use project at 2023 Shattuck Avenue in Downtown Berkeley. The proposal will create 48 studio apartments in the heart of the college city, including four units affordable for very-low-income individuals. The 74-foot structure will produce 24,200 square feet, with eight units on each 3,500 square foot floor. Mevlanarumi LLC is responsible for the development.

Construction on the affordable senior-housing project called Jordan Court has broken ground at 1601 Oxford Street, North Berkeley. The site sits between Cedar Street and Virginia Street. Just a short walk from Berkeley’s downtown, the site has access to one of the region’s large employment centers. Connections to other large hubs are also easily accessible via BART, as Downtown Berkeley Station is a short distance away.
